Kenya, located in the Great Lakes Region of East Africa, is known for its historic Rift Valley, exotic safaris, Olympic runners, and smiling faces greeting their guests with Jumbo, the Swahili welcome.
However, under the beauty of this nation, there are layers of systemic corruption which erodes the country’s well-being and brings poverty to the villages, rural dwellers, and residents in the world’s largest slum city, Nairobi. The reality of poverty is experienced by children begging for school fees or by the disillusioned slum dwellers that have migrated to the larger urban centers to find a better way of life.
HOPE has the privilege of working alongside nationals who work hard to create a better life. We have invested in children’s homes throughout the nation and have brought a measure of sustainability through agricultural enterprise and small businesses.
