Food for Thought at A.S. Matheson Elementary
Help Us Freeze Hunger in A.S. Matheson Elementary - One Student at a Time
It’s hard to imagine there are 4500 children in Lake Country, Kelowna, and West Kelowna who are at risk of going to school hungry each day. We know that hungry students do not reach their full potential and are more likely to have poorer health outcomes, weaker academic performance, and behavioural issues.
Food for Thought aims to eliminate hunger one student a time and we are asking you to join us. DONATE NOW!
Every day during the school year, Food for Thought provides free breakfast to over 1500 students in schools throughout Kelowna, Lake Country, and West Kelowna.
By ensuring children begin their day with a nutritious breakfast, we are seeing happy productive classrooms with reduced behavioural problems, increased academic performance, and a stronger sense of community.
“The first change we noticed at our school after the breakfast program started was the fact that fighting stopped. It wasn’t a decline or a shift—it stopped.”
- SD23 Middle School Principal
